As we know, we are still in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. We must follow health protocols, always keep our distance, and if it is not necessary to remain at home. However, what about the campus introduction event for new students? Due to the unfavorable situation, finally Campus Week, or which has now changed its name to “Freshman Summit”, was held online. Starting from attendance, checking the completeness of tasks, to seminars from administrative bureaus at ISTTS. Even though it is done online, several committees have to work on campus because they have to directly arrange for audio, lighting, and coordinate for the seminar speakers.
The series of events begins with an attendance session, and before noon, a break for lunch is given. Then it ends with the announcement of the best team champion that day. Even though it is done online, new students do not escape assignments for the student orientation period like those held in previous years. New students are given individual assignments to upload self-portraits with twibbon and make videos explaining their reasons for choosing to enter ISTTS (such as on Instagram @ freshmansummit.istts). Not only uploading photos and videos, for each team they are assigned to make videos. There are videos of the #passthesnack Challenge, #passtheenergyball Challenge, #passthequote Challenge, and others. Actually this assignment is aimed at getting to know each other between new students in their respective teams. Not only that, the Freshman Summit committee also held an exciting event, namely the "Talent Show", where one of the new students from each team represented for a talent show. Some play guitar, some sing, and others.
Even this online student orientation cannot discourage new students. They are so passionate and ambitious to beat other squads and win the top 3 rankings. And you can imagine, there are some students who are not focused but there are also those who are very excited about participating in the 2020 Freshman Summit. At the end of the event, the committee asked the new students to be honest about their mistakes. For students who are not focused, they will be given sanctions which can affect student graduation at the Freshman Summit. And at the end of the event, the announcement of the overall winner for the best team and cami was announced.
