Sputnik V, First Covid-19 Vaccine From Russia
Moscow: Sputnik V is the name of the coronavirus (covid-19) vaccine that President Vladimir Putin has approved. The name will later be used for foreign markets.
The name of the vaccine is taken from the first Russian satellite to launch into space.
Reporting from TASS, Tuesday, August 11, 2020, Putin also claimed Russia was the first country to report the registration of the Covid-19 vaccine.
"As far as I know, this morning for the first time in the world a vaccine against the corona virus has been recorded," said Putin.
Putin also said one of his daughters had volunteered for the covid-19 vaccine test. He said his daughter felt healthy right now.
The Russian leader noted that Russia's first Covid-19 vaccine forms stable cells and provides antibody immunity.
"I know very well because one of my daughters was vaccinated. So in this case, he participated in the test," he said.
He emphasized that some people have no symptoms at all after receiving the vaccine.
Previously, the Minister of Health stated that the clinical trial of the vaccine developed by the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya from the Russian Ministry of Health had ended and could be used for the public.
