Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) said it was improving the infrastructure of long-distance medical service equipment or telemedicine so that it could be implemented in all hospitals and puskesmas in Indonesia to cure corona Covid-19 patients.
Telemedicine itself is a long-distance health service by medical staff using information and communication technology, including the exchange of diagnosis and treatment information.
"Yes, the tools of Telemedicine are indeed not very good and there are also many regulations that are lacking, so it must be added related to the use of this technology," said Telemedicine Technology Expert from the Center for Electronics Technology, BPondo, Pratondo Busono during the Indonesian Innovation in Facing Pandemic event some time ago.
"But we have already developed telemedicine infrastructure that is already running and getting funding," he continued.
Pratondo also explained the infrastructure that is being pursued to make Telemedicine such as utilizing cloud servers, EMR, PACS, and Video Conference Server. Then BPPT also uses Goy-CA technology for the validity and security of medical data.
Regarding the use of Telemedicine technology in Indonesia, the Head of BNPB and Chair of the Covid-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, Doni Monardo previously stated that more than 300 thousand people have used Covid-19 telemedicine services.
He said telemedicine was the result of support from the Ministry of Health and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).
Because by using this technology, many people can consult with a doctor without having to go through face to face, not only that patients can also directly buy drugs based on digital prescriptions sent by the doctor after the consultation session.
Doni said that the Ministry of Health and BUMN have used a medical-based unicorn startup to support the handling of Covid-19. He said there were already around 20 unicorns that were effective in helping the government deal with Covid-19.
