In an effort to normalize tourism and aviation business related to the pandemic, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment gave the green light to the official travel of the ministry's employees.

So the point to be targeted, the government feels the need to interfere so that Indonesia's tourism business does not collapse. Well, one of the ways taken is to ask employees in 7 ministries to hold meetings as well as official travel that can immediately spend 4.1 trillion budget.

HOW THE GOVERNMENT WAS BUDGETING

Under the pretext of encouraging economic movements, the Coordinating Minister made a circular so that the 4.1 trillion meeting budget in 7 ministries and agencies was immediately spent. Instead of funding such unproductive activities, the Government should immediately disburse the 13th salary for ASN, TNI and Polri. The multiplier effect is clearer and broader, in addition to giving important moral injections to employees who may have been demoralized and demotivated during this pandemic period.

Over time, the Government's way of disbursing and managing this budget is getting more strange. The priority scale is not clear. Many budgets have been postponed for reasons of handling Covid-19, but we never know which handling budget of Covid-19 has taken up a lot of budget ?! What special and extraordinary actions have been taken by the Government, so as to confiscate the largest portion of the budget in the past semester?

Of course, the magnitude of figures and policies that seem "important-budget-absorbed" are reaping the pros and cons in society. Not a few who regretted the attitude of the government who prefers to "spend" a budget of 4.1 trillion for official travel, rather than the things that are more important.

Those who protested felt that much money could be used to pay off the salaries of the 13 civil servants, the military, or the police that were suspended because of the pandemic effect. Or it could be to provide subsidies for swab tests or rapid tests to people in need.

But of course, this type of community does not understand that with this 4.1 trillion official travel budget, there will be many hotel and aviation businesses that can be saved. Even though, what is clearly going to benefit from this policy is actually the employees in the 7 ministries.

As much as 4.1 trillion of the funds budgeted for this official trip also if used by someone for presidential assistance in Indonesia can not run out. The thing is, Jokowi's team campaign funds in the 2019 Presidential Election, for example, were officially reported to be "only" Rp. 606 billion.

With that number, it means that the 4.1 trillion official travel budget could be for Mr. Jokowi's presidential appointment up to 6 more times.
