SURYA.CO.ID | SURABAYA - Distance learning has various obstacles when it is applied in the midst of a pandemic. The difficulty of supervising students when learning makes student activities during PJJ actually out of control.

This made the final year student of the iSTTS Informatics Engineering Department (Surabaya Institute of Integrated Science and Technology) Excel Alexander Pratama create the "ISTTS ChildGuard" application.

Excel said that this application functions to monitor children during the Covid-19 pandemic, which is equipped with geofences, app management and phone management.

"Currently, many children are getting bored or bored at home because of the Covid-19 condition, so finally Mrs. Risma becomes excited and there is a discourse that she wants to be reactivated for school. Even though the current condition has not looked better, so the solution is I made this application. , "he explained, confirmed by SURYA.CO.ID, Thursday (20/8/2020).

This application also implements new knowledge about the android system which aims to help parents to monitor the location of their child during PJJ or online.

As well as helping parents to monitor and limit children's activities in smartphone use.

"This application system consists of several features, the main feature implemented is" Geofence ", which is to monitor the location and limit the child's play area. If the child's location is outside the area, the parents will be notified," explained the student guided by Hartarto Junaedi and Amelia. Alexantra Putri.

Next, features of application locking and time restriction. This feature is to limit children in using smartphones. The child will also be aware of any restrictions from the parents by showing "Screen Time".

"Screen time is the result that will be displayed on children's applications when parents have imposed restrictions," he said.

Based on its function, this application can be applied to parents and children gadgets. So that parents can still monitor their children even though they are not accompanying them at home.

"In the process of working on this application, I found it quite difficult to introduce a new Android system. Regarding several new permissions, as well as implementing to find the location or position of children in real time for the geofence feature," he continued.

In addition to parents, Excel revealed that its application can be applied to the "guarding the village" application.

Where the RT and RW monitoring can monitor each head of the family or the people who are in the house in the village.

"So during this pandemic, RT and RW administrators can ensure that their residents stay at home," he explained.

Public Relations of iSTTS, Masrara Dwi Yanti Handayani added, it is felt that the Excel application will be implemented during a pandemic. So it does not rule out the possibility to continue to be developed.
